CSML was chartered in 1974, by a group of
men and women interested in their heritage and dedicated to preserving
and promoting the sport of muzzle loading.
Colorado Springs Muzzle Loaders has grown from 10 charter members to over 100 families. Club activities have expanded to include demonstrations of the fur trade era, such as muzzle loading, trapping, and buckskinning. These demonstations are given by CSML members to area schools, scouts and the like.
CSML is a family orientated club which hosts
functions such as campouts, and potluck dinners, in addition to shoots.
The Cripple Creek Shoot, now known as the Memorial Day Shoot, is the club's annual project. It is now held in the area of Florence, Colorado. This event is a matter of some pride, since it draws shooters and spectators from all over the country and is greatly influential in promoting the interests of muzzle loading.
CSML is affiliated with the National Muzzle
Loading Rifle Association, the NRA, and the Colorado State Muzzle Loading Association.
